SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY NGO

Work with a social and solidarity economy NGO that promotes associativity, sustainable production, and fair trade, to improve the quality of life of vulnerable families in the country.

The project

Non-profit institution created in 1985 from the initiative of the Ecclesial Base Communities of the South of Quito. It was born from the association of grassroots communities and popular organizations, to respond to the need for alternative and solidarity marketing systems. This entity works in favor of vulnerable sectors in eighteen provinces of the country. It has 5300 members grouped in 400 cooperatives located in urban and rural areas. One of its objectives is to bring together small food producers in order to increase their strength in relation to the national and international market. Its organizational system is democratic and participatory.

One of its objectives is to bring together small food producers in order to increase their strength in relation to the national and international market; they also wanted to avoid the intermediaries to get better and more fair prices for the producers.
