LITERACY PROMOTION FOR KIDS
Assist in literacy promotion and education clubs for different ages kids and population in general
Is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious community organization which works on educational- based programs through recreational activities for kids, teenagers and the community in general.
Some of the projects they have is the reading club for kids, reading club for teenagers, children´s library, special needs club, English classes for youth, kids an adults, baby´s and moms literacy program, among others.
They also assist, organize and participate in some cultural and environmentally focused events of the community, like parades, beach cleaning and festivals
Project available year-round. Minimum 1 month duration
2 weeks – $1750
1 month – $2300
2 months – $3400
3 months – $4500
Each extra week – $275
Accommodation is at the shared house. Budget for meals is included, the house have a kitchen you can use, or buy prepared meal.
Mondays to Fridays:
Activities with kids are extracurricular, so the work is usually in the afternoons.
Anyway, some days it could vary depending of the projects and planned activities of the foundation. Week planning is making each Friday, there you´ll know which ones are your responsibilities and schedules during the week.
Role of the volunteer
Participants may assist in the planning activities and projects of the foundation, assist in the English classes, also help out with recreational activities and sports. No teaching background is required.
No special experience is required. However, the number one qualification is the willingness to learn and help, as well as being opened to live in a small town and have different schedules and responsibilities.
